What we learned about Complete Streets implementation from Safe Streets Academy applications
As the first-ever Safe Streets Academy prepares for launch next month, the quality and number of applications that were submitted offered a deeply informative look into the challenges to Complete Streets implementation that jurisdictions across the country currently face. The National Complete Streets Coalition decided to put that information to use by creating an infographic that summarizes some of the most pressing challenges.
Complete Streets Consortium Series: recapping the Chattanooga, TN workshop
The Complete Streets Consortium Series works with three jurisdictions across the same state to improve inter-agency collaboration, create a peer-learning network, and identify strategies to overcome common barriers to Complete Streets implementation. Complete Streets and Vision Zero: Engineering for Safe Streets
For more than 13 years, the National Complete Streets Coalition has believed that better engineering and design have the greatest influence on safety for all users of all abilities. Today, the Coalition is officially endorsing Vision Zero because we believe that it represents an important complement to safe street design.

Implementation & Equity 201: The Path Forward to Complete Streets is exploring a new issue each month related to creating safer, healthier, more equitable streets.

The National Complete Streets Coalition and Transportation for America’s Arts & Culture team are currently seeking session proposals for “Intersections: Creating Culturally Complete Streets,” the second national Complete Streets conference.
Northern Indiana communities selected to receive Complete Streets assistance
After conducting a competitive application process with the Michiana Council of Governments (MACOG), we are excited to announce the winners of a MACOG-specific Complete Streets workshop. Next month, we will travel to Northern Indiana for a one-day workshop with the three winning cities to help them learn how to design & build safer, more complete streets in their communities.

Safe Streets Academy winners announced — After a very competitive application process, we are excited to announce the winners of the Safe Streets Academy: Orlando, FL; Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, KY; South Bend, IN. These three jurisdictions will learn from national experts, collaborate with one another, and discuss best practices in engineering, tactical urbanism, creative placemaking, and community engagement.
